Change and create custom Layer Style

These steps are for creating a finished print using Templates Unlimited templates with Photoshop CS (but steps apply to most version of PS and Elements) -- sample used Baseball/Softball 04 trading card front

They apply for all our Templates Unlimited and can be used with Photoshop or Elements

Layer Styles:

1. Double click on the text layer to change layer style -- i.e. School/Team, Mascot, LastName, Year or FirstName (NOTE: Double in area on layer where no wording)

This will bring up Layer Styles popup menu

Download basic instructions, color combos (gradients) and layer styles  for how to add Artistic Action Layer Styles

2.  With the Layer Styles popup menu open click on Styles at the very top left -- this will show all the layer styles currently available.  Click on anyone you like to add to template.

IF you cannot find one you are happy with then continue on to create a custom layer style.

3 To add a Stroke (outline around text) click on Stroke and edit Stroke color and size
3a. Edit the Stroke color -- click on the Color: box on the Stroke menu then use the Eye Drop tool to select a color from the photo or enter the RGB values in the Color Picker popup

Experiment with this to better learn how this works and looks and to get the best look you can.  To learn more about layer styles see Photoshop or Elements help menu under layer styles.

4. Change text color -- click on Color Overlay
5.   From the Color box pick color  popup -- color picker,  photo using the "Eye Dropper" tool or enter RGB codes into Color Picker popup menu

6a.  Experiment with any "Blend Mode" like

Normal

Darken

Multiply

Lighten

Overlay

etc

Optional change other "Blending Options" then once happy add as new layer style  by Clicking on "new Style" and entering in name for this new style

7. Copy and paste this new Layer Style to other text layers.

Right click on any text layer that you want to copy layer style from and select "Copy Layer Style" and then right click on any text to copy layer style too and click on "Paste Layer Style"

TIP:  Once you are happy with color and text for this template then save as a new full layered Photoshop/Elements master for this team.  Then all you need to do is add photo and edit players name to create another print for this team

Your print is now ready to Save As a new image.  Save As a JPEG to send to your printed or Save As a new master template for this team.
